What is the Grace of God?

The Grace of God is a free gift, freely given.

Have you read about the man who found Grace in the sight of God? The story of Noah though misunderstood overtime, pictures the Grace of God towards mankind.

But what then is the grace of God? If this is a question you have in mind, let’s find out the answer as we briefly study the word “Grace”.

What is Grace in the Bible?

A Wikipedia article on Divine Grace says this, and I qoute, “Divine grace is a theological term present in many religions. It has been defined as the divine influence which operates in humans to regenerate and sanctify, to inspire virtuous impulses, and to impart strength to endure trial and resist temptation; and as an individual virtue or excellence of divine origin.”

The above definition enumerates interesting points about divine Grace that picked my attention including, a regenerating and sanctifying, inspiring, and strengthening influence from a divine origin.

We see the likes of this regarding Grace in the Bible.

According to the Bible, Grace is that by or through which people are being saved, inspired as well as strengthened.

Take for instance, the story of Noah, he found Grace with God and was moved according to the scriptures to build an ark that he lived in with his family during the flood.

In like manner, the Grace of God appeared with salvation (eternal life) in the person of Jesus Christ for those who believe.

Ephesians 2:8-9 (WEB) says, “for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,

not of works, that no one would boast.”

What is the Grace of God?

It is a common saying that the Grace of God is unmerited favour and undeserved.

God is divine and while there are graces, the Grace of God is the love of God EXPRESSED toward mankind. By that expression, we are inspired, saved, and strengthened even to do good.

2 Corinthians 5:14 (WEB) “For the love of Christ constrains us; because we judge thus, that one died for all, therefore all died.”

This, many would acronymize to God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense – GRACE.

What the Grace of God can do

For The Believers Today, we see how great the Grace of God is to the world and to us who believe. Infact, I believe all of God from the beginning to the end is Grace.

As concerning what the Grace of God can do, basically:

• The Grace of God can inspire.

• The Grace of God can save.

• The Grace of God can strengthen and sustain.

2 Corinthians 12:9 (WEB) “He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me.”

In Conclusion, the Grace of God is about God and what He does especially for us, to us, in us and with us. And like brother Paul would say in 1 Corinthians 15:10 (WEB), “But by the grace of God I am what I am. His grace which was bestowed on me was not futile, but I worked more than all of them; yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.”
